Chouhan ayes inquiry into irrigation scheme
Bhabra (MP), Feb 27 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today assured an inquiry into alleged corruption in Jhabua district's lift irrigation scheme.
''The committee will be formed under the finance minister's chairmanship. Farmers were subjected to injustice,'' he told reporters after addressing a public meeting here on the death anniversary of revolutionary freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad whose birthplace is Bhabra.
The scheme, which is more than a decade old, was implemented at more than a 1,000 locations in the district. SHGs were formed but only about 100 of 1,025 sub-schemes -- at a cost of about Rs 12 crore -- were still functional.
