Bruges stalemate leaves Anderlecht top in Belgium
BRUSSELS, Feb 26 (Reuters) Standard Liege held Club Bruges to a 1-1 draw in their top of the table clash today, leaving leaders Anderlecht two points clear in the Belgian first division.
Anderlecht, who beat SV Roeselare 2-0 day, have 49 points from 24 games. Second-placed Standard and champions Bruges remain locked together on 47 points from 24 matches.
Zulte Waregem won 1-0 at Excelsior Mouscron yesterday and are fourth on 43 points.
In today's big game in Bruges, Ivan Leko put the hosts ahead on the half hour before Oguchi Onyewu equalised for Standard before the interval.
Anderlecht downed Roeselare thanks to two late goals from Swedish winger Christian Wilhelmsson and Argentine striker Nicolas Frutos, his sixth in six games.
Lierse moved off the bottom, and out of the relegation zone for the first time this season, with a 2-1 win at home to Westerlo.
La Louviere dropped to the foot of the table following a 1-0 defeat at Racing Genk. Beveren are second from bottom after they lost 3-1 at home to Lokeren.
The bottom two have 21 points from 24 matches, with Lierse a point better off.
Elsewhere, Germinal Beerschot and Cercle Bruges drew 0-0 while St Truiden and Charleroi shared a 1-1 draw.
