ICICI life insurance crosses 2 mn policies milestone

Hyderabad, Feb 27: 'ICICI Prudential Life Insurance' has become the first private life insurer in the country to cross the two million policy mark, according to its Managing Director and CEO Shikha Sharma.

Mr Sharma said the ICICI had crossed two million policies milestone with the corresponding sum assured at Rs 43,000 crore and new business received premium income at Rs 4,532 crore. This achievement had come less than 18 months after crossing the one million policy mark in September 2004, he added.

Mr Sharma said 'a policy base of two million in less than six years of operations is an indicator of the robustness and scalability of our business processes, distribution and service', a press release said yesterday (Feb 26, 2006).
