Train derailment hits rail services in UP

Moradabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Train services on the Moradabad-Ambala section of the Northern Railway were distrupted since late last night following derailment of eight coaches, including engine of Amritsar bound Howrah-Amristar Express, near Nagina station.

Over ten people recieved minor injuries in the accident occurred at 0038 hrs, railway officials confirmed.

Sources here said the accident was a minor one as the train was on slow speed as it was approaching the Nagina station under Bijnour district. Seven coaches and the engine jumped the tracks following the accident.

Train services on the section have been distrupted and at least 18 pairs of passenger trains diverted through alternative route.

The passengers of the train have been sent to Amritsar by a special train.

Railway sources said restoration work was under way on a war footing to repair the tracks.
