Subhajit Saha, Mouma Das crowned national champions

Jaipur, Feb 26 (UNI) Third seed Subhajit Saha upset top seed and commonwealth gold medallist Sharath Kamal in a see-saw battle to annexe the men's singles crown while fourth seed Mouma Das stunned third seed Mantu Ghosh in an all Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) final to win the women's singles title here today.

Saha beat Sharath Kamal 11-5, 4-11, 8-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9,11-6 in a full length ding dong battle, which lasted for 44 minutes.

Last year's runner up Mouma Das took half an hour to beat exprienced Mantu Ghosh 11-2, 11-7, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6.

Earlier, Sharath Kamal thrashed 12th seed A Amal Raj of Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) 1-6, 11-6, 6-11, 11-5, 11-1 in the first semi-final while third seed Subhajit Saha prevailed over defending champion S Raman 11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-9 in the other semi-final.

In the women's semi-finals, Mouma Das toppled top seed Poulomi Ghatak 11-9, 12-10, 11-8, 11-9 while Mantu Ghosh had to struggle hard before shocking second seed K Shamini 11-9, 7-11, 15-13, 11-9, 4-11, 13-11, in an all PSPB encounter.
