Tension during 'Shivratri' celebrations in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Feb 26: Tension gripped the Parichitlalnagar locality of the strife-prone walled city area during the 'Mahashivratri' celebrations today when two groups belonging to different communities indulged in stone-pelting.

The situation was soon brought under control, Police Inspector of Dani Limda B L Wagh said.

No one was injured in the incident and only a few window panes broke, he added.

''The incident was a fallout of heckling and exchange of verbal volleys between the two groups. As there was a police picket closeby, and also heavy police bandobast in place because of the Mahashivratri celebrations, it did not take much time to bring the situation under control,'' he told UNI.

No arrests have yet been made, he added.
