Shillong scribes to meet BSF IG to lodge complaint
Shillong, Feb 26 (UNI) Shillong press fraternity will meet BSF Inspector General tomorrow to lodge a complaint against the alleged assault of mediapersons by BSF jawans at Jaliakholia border out post during a joint inspection of Indo-Bangla border.
The scribes have decided to boycott all Border Security Force (BSF) functions and demanded public apology from the latter.
The decision was taken last evening at a meeting in the Shillong Press Club.
They will also hand over a memorandum to state Home Minister H D R Lyngdoh, seeking the government's intervention.
Four mediapersons, including a cameraman, were allegedly assaulted by BSF personnel in front of a magistrate and other government officials at Dawki when they accompanied a joint survey team of the district administration and the NGOs to review progress of border fencing.
