Operation Kolleru: Officials debunk reports on SC order

Vijayawada, Feb 26 (UNI) Discounting reports that the Supreme Court had stayed Operation Kolleru, the district administration today clarified no orders had been issued to this effect.

Official sources told UNI here today the operation will proceed with all speed and officers will not take cognisance of such rumours.

The Apex Court had only heard a petition filed by a fish farmer belonging to West Godavari district and directed the empowered committee to look into his grievance during its hearing scheduled for March 11.

The petitioner argued that his fish tank should not be demolished as the government had issued him a 'patta' in 1980. Meanwhile, District Collector Navin Mittal warned rumour mongers of stern action.

He said the present operation in Krishna district focussing on fish tanks covering more than 100 acre would continue.
