New bridge for Rs 400 crore across river Godavari: Minister

Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh Feb 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Road and Buildings Minister Jakkampudi Mohan Rao today said a survey would be conducted to construct a new bridge at a cost of Rs 400 crore across river Godavari, connecting Kovvur in West Godavari and Rajahmundry in East Godavari.

Talking to newspersons here Mr Rao said flyovers would be constructed at Tuni and Kakinada.

He said the State Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would lay the foundation stone next month for Rs 50 crore bridge between Pasarlapudi and Bodassukurru near Amalapuram in the district.

He said the budget allocation for roads and buildings this year had been enhanced to Rs 1300 crore, compared to Rs 1100 crore, last year.

The minister said the Government was giving priority for irrigation projects, agriculture, water and welfare activities.

Steps had been initiated for road-cum-rail bridge across river Godavari, he added.
