Mumbai, Feb 26 (UNI) Eighteen city-based Consul Generals were felicitated with ''Gurjar Bhushan'' award by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel at a function here last night.
Awardees included Harshad R Mehta (Armenia), Jasu Shah (Austria), Dr Anil Kadakia (Brazil), Anilkumar Naik (Denmark), Y P Trivedi (Ethiopia), Shreyas K Doshi (Finland), Vilas Lokhandwala (Ghana), C H Kapadia (Madagascar), Rajju Shroff (Mexico), Pradip Madhavji (New Zealand) and Surendra Parikh (Zambia).
The Minister admired the contribution to the country made by these Consul Generals, who hail from the Gujarati community.
Speaking at the presentation function, Mr Patel said Gujarati people must come forward in more numbers in politics also.
He said the aviation sector, to be expanded in the country's hinterland, will be used for national integration. The country will have about 2,000 aircrafts for civil aviation in the next 10 years, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, former lagislative assembly speaker Arun Gujarati hoped that the awardees would contribute further to strengthen the country's trade and commerce relations with those countries they were representing.
