Chennai, Feb 26 (UNI) The Thamizhaga Asiriyar Kootani (Teachers syndicate) today appealed to the state government to give up the practice of appointing teachers under the consolidated pay scheme and to regularise all the teachers appointed under consolidated and contract basis.

In a statement Kootani general secretary V Annamalai said a resolution to this effect was adopted at its state delegates conference here today.

The meeting sought immediate restoration of all the concessions to the teachers which were taken away by the Government recently and to give up the new pension scheme.

The meeting wanted that three teachers should handle every 75 students in order to improve the educational skill for the continuation of the district elementary educational officers post and to appoint at least two district elementary educational officers for every revenue district and not to merge the elementary education with the school education department under any circumstances.
