11 of marriage party killed in head-on collsion

Rohtak, Feb 26 (UNI) Eleven people, including two women and a child, were killed and more than 25 hurt in a road accident, near here, this morning.

According to the police, the deceased had been identified as Umed Singh, Jaichand, Hawa Singh, Harpal, Balmat,Vicky, Ganaga Devi and Sunehri, all residents of Tej Colony of the city.

Three of the deceased are yet to be identified. The injured were admitted to the PGIMS, where conditon of four of them was stated to be critical.

According to information, the accident occurred when a canter carrying members of a marriage party from Rohtak to Bhiwani collided head-on with a Haryana Roadways bus near Drain no. eight on the Rohtak-Bhiwani Road.

Rohtak Deputy Commissioner R S Doon rushed to PGIMS to enquire about the condition of the injured. He told mediapersons that an ex gratia payment of Rs 50,000 each would be paid to next of kin of those killed, Rs 20,000 each to those critically injured and Rs 10,000 to other injured.
