CM lays foundation for Adidas shoe factory in AP village
Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 25 (UNI) Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today laid the foundation stone for the shoe factory the world famous Adidas company would be setting up at Mambattu village in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the factory would provide employment to 30,000 people, most of them locals.
He said of the 30,000, 20,000 would be women. While smaller industries that came up in the district during the past ten years had only provided employment to 2,000 persons, the Adidas shoe factory would provide a job for atleast one person in every family in the area.
Dr Reddy said while an unskilled worker would be earning about Rs 2000 to Rs 3000, supervisors would get around Rs 3000 to Rs 6000 per month.
He said by setting up the industry in an area near Chennai, he said an industrial corridor would be developed, bringing about a revolutionary change in the area.
The Chief Minister said because of the provision of power at lower tariffs, the state government was able to attract investments into the state.
Representatives of Adidas also participated in the programme.
