Woman sentenced to life commits suicide in sessions court
Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) A woman convicted in a murder case today committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the sessions court here.
Geeta N Soni (33), the prime accused in a murder case, was sentenced to life imprisonment by Judge S B Gaikwad today.
After the judgement was announced, Geeta went inside a toilet on the third floor of the court at around 1445 hrs. She bolted it from inside and jumped from the rear window.
Geeta fell on the roof of a parked car in the compound of the court and then skidded to the floor, and died on the spot.
After the 'panchnama', police sent the body to G T Hospital for postmortem.
However, sources said even after the life sentence was announced to her, she looked calm and had a discussion with her lawyer in the court room and also signed papers for challenging the judgement in the High Court.
The deceased alongwith four others, including her mother and husband, were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering - 72-yr-old Adi Khurshadji on May 20, 2003 in Worli area of Mumbai.
