Three militants and woman killed, two soldiers injured in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) Three militants and a woman were killed and two Army jawans injured in a fierce encounter in North Kashmir late last night, a Defence Ministry spokesman said today.

He said troops of 5 Jat Battalion and 13 Rashtrya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at Chowkibal Bandipora last evening after receiving information that militants were hiding there.

He said when the troops were sealing the area militants attacked them with automatic weapons grenades. Troops also returned the fire and in the fierce clash till 2400 hrs three militants were killed.

One woman Sara Begum also died and two soldiers were injured.

He said three AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
