Oppn stages walkout against neglect of tribals
Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Opposition parties of today staged a walkout against the government's alleged negligence tribals in ITDA areas.
When the issue came up during the Question Hour, Mr L Raja Rao (BSP), who belonged to the tribal community, complained that health, roads, sanitation and other conditions had not improved despite the government taking up Integrated Tribal Development Area (ITDA) plan.
Even the hostel in which he studied had not been repaired so far.
In his reply, Tribal Welfare Minister Redyanayak, also a tribal, said the present government attached much importance to tribal welfare and had enhanced the budgetary allocation by about Rs 200 crore.
When the Minister did not agree to take an all party delegation to one of the ITDA areas for a study of the ground situation, members belonging to the TDP, CPI(M), TRS, and the BSP staged the walkout.
