Amritsar, Feb 23 (UNI) Four Punjab Police personnel were today dismissed from service on charges of 'grave negligence' following the escape of a undertrial from Guru Nanak hospital yesterday.

The dismissal was ordered by Majitha SSP Vibhu Raj after inquiring into the escape of Dilraj Singh, an undertrial lodged at the local Central Jail who was admitted to the hospital on February 20.

The four policemen were assigned the duty to guard the undertrial at the hospital. Dilraj has a number of cases pending against him, including one registered under the NDPS act at New Delhi in 1998 following the recovery of 38 kg heroin from him.

The dismissed police personnel were identified as Head Constable Sultan Singh, constables Kulwant Rai, Yusuf Masih and Kabul Singh.

All the four are absconding and a case under sectins 224 and 223 IPC has been registered against them, the SSP added.
