ECIL signs MoU for co-production of Doppler Radars

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a public sector enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy today signed a MoU for co-production of high performance Doppler Radars with Radtec Engineering Inc of USA with the assistance of Mantec Consultants Pvt Ltd, who have offices in India and USA.

The radars will be used for weather prediction and modification systems. The radars, having a range up to 400 km, are capable of collecting data of cloud formations useful for predicting hailstorms, rain forecasts and gust winds These will be useful for the Indian Meteorological Department, Airport authorities, Indian Air Force and for cloud seeding operations, a press release here said.

Radtec is a world leader in weather radars offering unique offest antenna technology, advanced modulator systems and dual polarity capabilities using GAMIC software which is the leading software in the world for weather rader systems. GAMIC software has been developed by Mr Martin Malcomes of GAMIC Mbh, Germany.

The memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by G N V Satyanarayana, Director (Technical), ECIL and Greg Slater, sales manager Radtec Engineering Inc.USA and witnessed by A S Brara Chairman and Director M/s Matec Consultants who represent Radtec Engineering Inc in India.
