Delta flight makes emergency landing

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) New York-Chennai Delta Airlines flight (DL 016) made an emergency landing after its indicator light malfunctioned at the Anna International airport here at midnight.

Airport sources said the flight with 184 passengers, scheduled to land here at 0015 hrs, approached the airport and it was noticed that the indicator lamps were not functioning. Without these lights, the flight could not land, the sources said.

The pilots informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC), which advised them to reduce fuel stock by circling in the skies for some time.

The aircraft stayed in the air for about 50 minutes.

The ATC, after making all emergency arrangements on the ground, permitted the aircraft to make an emergency landing at 0110 hrs.

The flight landed safely, much to everyone's relief.

The flight in its return direction, scheduled to leave for New York at 0245 hrs, left at 0330 hrs, after setting right the lights.
