Champions Chennai begin well in Port Trust Kabaddi, Carrom

Visakhapatnam, Feb 24 (UNI) Champions Chennai Port Trust (CPT) made a fine start for their title defence in Kabaddi and Carrom with convincing wins in the All India Major Ports Table Tennis, Kabaddi and Carrom Championships, which began at the Port Stadium here today.

CPT won both their matches in carrom defeating Mormugoa and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust 2-1 and 3-0 respectively, while in Kabaddi, they defeated Tuticorin 41-10.

In table tennis, defending champions Kolkata blanked New Mangalore Port Trust 3-0.

The results: TT: Pool A: Visakhapatnam Port Trust bt NMPT 3-0; Kolkata bt NMPT 3-0; Chennai bt NMPT 3-1.

Pool B: Mumbai bt Mormugoa 3-0; Paradip bt Mormugoa 3-1; Mumbai bt Paradip 3-0.

Kabaddi: VPT bt Paradip 50-20; Chennai bt Tuticorin 41-10.

Carrom: VPT bt Mormugoa 2-1; CPT bt VPT 3-0; JNPT bt Mormugoa 3-0; Chennai bt JNPT 3-0.
