New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the introduction of the Assam Rifles Bill, 2006 in Parliament.
The Assam Rifles Act, 1941 is an old Act and does not meet the prevailing requirements of the Force, and thus it will be repealed and replaced by the new Act, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
