4 accused in RDX landing case sent to police remand till Feb 27
Jamnagar, Feb 22 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge N S Vora today sent the four accused in the fire arms and RDX landing case of 1993 to police remand till February 27.
While two accused - Mustafa alias Majanu Shekh and Ezaz Pathan - were earlier brought here from Mumbai's Arthur road jail, Ejju Sheikh and Amir Bandookwala were brought from Vadodara jail on transfer warrants last week.
Subsequently, Mustafa was admitted to civil hospital here after he complained of chest pain.
According to prosecution, the four accused were allegedly involved in the 'RDX landing case', prior to the infamous Bombay serial blasts case.
Meanwhile, the Government appointed senior lawyer H O Bhatt as the special public prosecutor, looking into the gravity of the case.
In a long drawn argument, the judge rejected the claim of the four accused to allow their lawyer during police interrogation, but allowed the lawyer to meet them every day for 15 minutes.
So far, 70 out of total 142 accused have been arrested in the RDX landing case, several of them under TADA Act.
Mammumiyan Punjumiyan was the landing agent to receive the consignment at the Gosabara minor port in the adjoining Porbandar district.
Acting on a tip off by a resident of Bedi port on the oustkirts of Jamnagar, the case was busted by then Jamnagar Superintendent of Police P K Jha.
