Violence mars fourth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh
Several supporters of the SP and the BSP workers were involved in a fight in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
Lucknow, Feb 23: An incident of clash between the supporters of two prominent political parties in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh took place on Thursday. The incident happened while voting for the fourth phase of polling is underway in the state.
"In Mahoba, UP, clashes broke out between the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party supporters," reported ANI. A total of four people, including SP candidate Siddhgopal Sahu's son, were reportedly injured in the incident.

The polling process in the last three phases had been peaceful in the northern state. However, Thursday's incident proved the volatile situation in the ground. The incident happened in spite of tight security measures in place in the state.
Voting in 53 assembly constituencies in the fourth phase of UP elections began at 7 am on Thursday amid tight security, officials said.
Three more phases of polling in the state will take place in the coming days.
