The latest name to figure in the Saradha scam is that of Firhad Hakim. His name has been dragged into the scam by Asif Khan a former aide of Mukul Roy and this has left the TMC to do some more firefighting on the issue.
The CBI says that it would call in Hakim for questioning to ascertain his role in the scam. Not much has come up on him, but we are corroborating the statements and claims made by Khan, a CBI official told Oneindia.
Who is Firhad Hakim:
Firhad Hakim is a Minister for Urban Development and the Minister for Municipal Affairs in the Government of West Bengal. He was elected from the Kolkata Port constituency in the West Bengal state assembly election, 2011.
His name does not figure in any of the statements made by either Kunal Ghosh or Sudipta Sen in connection with the Saradha scam. His name cropping up all of a sudden has left everyone surprised.
His name did the rounds in the media only when some TMC leader was pulled up by the CBI. He is Mamata Banerjee's firefighter and also considered to be her blue eyed boy.
He was the one who used to be the first to issue statements protesting the CBI action in connection with the Saradha scam. If his name is dragged into the scam then it would be another set back for Mamata Banerjee.
There are 121 TMC leaders connected to Saradha?
Going by the claims made by Asif Khan a former aide of Mukul Roy there are 121 leaders of the TMC who are allegedly connected to the Saradha scam. Khan has been making several statements before the CBI in which has been naming leaders one after the other.
Like Kunal Ghosh even Khan feels a bit let down by the TMC leadership. He too like Ghosh has told the CBI that the big fish threw in the names of smaller fries in a bid to protect themselves.
CBI officials say that they will call in Hakim for questioning. However we will do this after we questioning Mukul Roy. We want to find out from Roy the possible role played by Hakim.
Roy will be in a better position to tell us about Hakim since his name has been dragged in by his former aide Khan. We are also preparing the complete list of 121 names as mentioned by Khan and will pose them before Roy, the CBI official further stated.
