Music legend M S Viswanathan passes away
Chennai, July 14: The legendary South Indian music composer M.S. Viswanathan passed away Tuesday morning in a private hospital in Chennai .
The legend who was populary known as MSV and Mellisai Malar (The King of Light Music) breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai.

He was admitted at Fortis malar hospital due to old age illness and breathing difficulties passed. According to hospital sources he passed away at 4:15 am.
He has composed songs for over 1200 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. He began his career as composer for Sivaji Ganeshan starrer 1952 film Tamil "Panam". Apart from composing songs MSV has also acted and sung in a few Tamil films. His association with TK Ramamoorthy is very popular. They composed music for about 86 movies together.
MSV used elements such as humming and whistling in his songs, and blended new trends such as western music and disco with Indian classical tunes. In 2012 , the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa conferred the Thirai Isai Chakravarthy (Tamil for "The Emperor of Cine Music") title on him.
His wife Janaki died in 2012 . He is survived by four sons and three daughters. His last rites will be performed on Wednesday.
