Even as Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the CBI had raided his office and sealed it as well, the agency however points out that the raid was conducted at the Delhi secretariat.
CBI denies sealing Kejriwal's office
The CBI however denied sealing the office of the Chief Minister and said that the raids were conducted as the investigations had to be furthered. We needed to inspect documents and files relating to the case.
It was alleged that Kumar had favoured a software company that was launched by some officials who had taken voluntary retirement. Further Kumar has also been accused of criminal misconduct. The CBI officials say that they were trying to ascertain how this firm was favoured and whether Kumar had used his official position to do the same.
CBI officials further informed that the allegations of a witch hunt is baseless. This was a case under investigation and the probe needed to be furthered, the official also said. We are trying to ascertain if the software firm managed to get contacts by using the influence that Kumar had since he was in an official position, the CBI officer also informed.
We have also conducted raids in four other places in connection with this case, the officer further informed.
