B'lore: NIMHANS gets national importance status

New Delhi, Oct 21: Along with the approval of 'National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) Bill, 2009, the Union Cabinet also declared NIMHANS as an institute of national importance on Wednesday, Oct 20.

This new approval by the Union Cabinet will help NIMHANS to adopt new courses and new patterns of teaching in the institute.

Apart from NIMHANS and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), two other institutes that is- Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and Puducherry's Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, were also declared as the institutes of National importance.

NIMHANS is Bangalore"s multidisciplinary institute in the field of mental health and neurosciences, and also one of Asia's most reputable hospitals.
