China inspires BSY to consider two-child norm
Bangalore, Sep 10: Karnataka's Chief Minister, BS Yeddyurappa who returned recently from China is reportedly mulling over a two-child norm for the state.
In his inaugural address at the state legislature session on Wednesday, Sep 9, the chief minister wondered, "Will adopting the two-child norm and cutting government facilities to those who have more than two children help the State in any way?"
This move by Yeddyurrappa is being seen in the backdrop of his recent visit to China, which has adopted the one-child norm as a measure to contain population growth for quite some time now.
Taking this up a serious development strategy, BSY called for discussions over the issue in the house, particularly as a step to improve the condition of villages and farmers. He said that the suggestions would be incorporated while finalising the budget next year.
