Chhau dance guru 'Padmashree' Kedar Nath Sahu dead
Jamshedpur, Oct 9 (UNI) Noted Chhau dance exponent Padmashree Guru Kedar Nath Sahu passed away following a prolonged illness, at Saraikela in Saraikela-Kharswan district.
The 88-year-old Padmashree awardee, was almost bed-ridden for the last few years and breathed his last at his Kansari tola residence last evening family sources today said.
He was creamated today.
He is survived by his wife, five sons and four daughters.
Guru Kedar enthralled leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad and Jawaharlal Nehru by his splendid performance.
Sahu won several awards, including the Sangeet Natak Academy award.
He took Saraikela Chhau to several European countries and the US.
He set up a Chhau Nritya Kala Kendra, in association with the Saraikela-Kharswan district administration.
His contribution helped Saraikela variety of Chhau earn accolades from national and international arena.
