Hooda announces award on works on Lala Deshbandhu Gupta
Chandigarh, Aug 20 (UNI) An annual state level Award of Rs One lakh will be instituted in the name of a noted freedom fighter, journalist and writer of Haryana Lala Deshbandhu Gupta which would be given to a writer for his ''outstanding performance in the field of writing on the life and works of Lala Deshbandhu Gupta.'' This Award will be instituted under the auspices of Haryana Sahitya Akademi.
This was announced by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in a Book Release Function held at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today afternoon wherein the Governor of Haryana Dr A R Kidwai released two books entitled Shri Lala Deshbandhu Gupta and Sant Kavi Janki Prasad written by Mr Narender Kumar Upmanyu, a young writer and scholar of Haryana.
The Governor congratulated the Chief Minister for announcing to institute the award in memory of Lala Deshbandhu Gupta.
The Chief Minister also promised to approach the Government of India for introducing a postal stamp in the memory of Lala Deshbandhu Gupta.
