Jharkhand Party candidate richest in Simaria by poll
Chatra, Jan 22 (UNI) Jharkhand Party (JP) candidate Ms Meena Devi is the richest among 14 candidates for the February 4 by-election to the Simaria Assembly seat of Jharkhand.
The JP candidate, who attended classes till eighth standard, owns property worth Rs 14.30 lakh and also owned two passenger buses whereas another candidate Anjali Devi owns property worth Rs 21 lakhs.
The facts were revealed in the nomination papers filed by the respective candidates as per the Supreme Court's directive.
According to the apex court verdict delivered on March 13, 2003, every candidate had to mention the details regarding their assets, liabilities, educational qualification and criminal records with the nomination.
The candidates of national political parties were lagging behind in third and fourth positions. Kumar Ujjwal from BJP ranks third with two buses and Rs three lakhs, whereas former RJD leader and Congress candidate Yogendra Baitha is in the fourth position with about Rs 3.76 lakh and two small vehicles.
Other candidates were Ramchandra Ram of CPI, Manoj Rajak, Ramtahal Turi, Rajkumar Rajak, Kuldeep Ganjhu, Tarkeshwar Ganjhu, Kailash Bhuyian, Gulab Ram, Sunil Kumar Paswan (all independents) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha Candidate Jai Prakash Singh Bhokta respectively.
