SBI Customers Alert! ATM Cash Withdrawals Get Costlier; Check New Charges After SBI ATM Fee Hike
Withdrawing money from ATMs will now cost more for customers, as the State Bank of India has announced a new revision in its ATM transaction charges. Post this, both cash withdrawals and balance enquiries at non-SBI ATMs will be more expensive for customers. The new charges came into effect from December 1, 2025, and it is the first SBI ATM fee hike since February 2025.

Reason Behind Increased ATM Charges
According to SBI, the decision to revise ATM withdrawal charges was taken after a rise in interchange fees, which are costs paid between banks when customers use another bank's ATM. Due to higher operating expenses, SBI reviewed its pricing for ATM and Automated Deposit-cum-Withdrawal Machine (ADWM) services.
New SBI ATM Transaction Charges
Under the revised structure, SBI customers using other banks' ATMs beyond the free limit will now have to pay higher fees.
For cash withdrawals, the charge has been increased to Rs 23 plus GST per transaction, up from Rs 21 plus GST earlier.
For non-financial transactions such as balance enquiry or mini statement, customers will now be charged Rs 11 plus GST, compared with Rs 10 plus GST earlier.
Who Will Be Affected by SBI ATM Fee Hike?
The revised SBI ATM charges will mainly affect savings account holders and salary account holders who frequently use non-SBI ATMs after exhausting their free transaction limits. Customers who mainly use SBI ATMs will not be impacted by the change.
Free ATM Transaction Limit for SBI Savings Accounts
SBI has clarified that there is no change in the number of free ATM transactions available to regular savings account holders.
Savings account customers will continue to get five free transactions per month at non-SBI ATMs across all centres. These free transactions include both financial and non-financial transactions. Once the free limit is crossed, the revised charges will apply.
Big Change for SBI Salary Account Holders
A major change has been introduced for SBI salary package savings bank account holders. These customers will now be allowed only 10 free ATM transactions per month at other banks' ATMs across all locations.
Earlier, salary account holders enjoyed unlimited free ATM transactions. After exhausting the 10 free transactions, salary account customers will be charged Rs 23 plus GST for cash withdrawals and Rs 11 plus GST for balance enquiries or mini statements.
