French Cup Upset: Paris FC Eliminate PSG to Reach Last 16

Paris FC pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the French Cup, edging past defending champions Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the round of 32 to claim their first-ever victory over their high-profile city rivals.

The defeat marked a rare low point for PSG, the most successful club in Coupe de France history with 16 titles. For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the holders failed to progress beyond the last 32. It was also PSG's first home defeat in the competition since 2022.

Despite dominating the match at the Parc des Princes, PSG were left to rue missed chances. The hosts controlled possession and created numerous openings, but their inability to finish proved decisive.

Paris FC made their moment count in the 74th minute when Jonathan Ikone capped a rapid counter-attack with a clinical finish. The goal came just weeks after Ikone struck a hat-trick in Paris FC's fifth-round win over US Raon-l'Etape.

Ikone, who rose through PSG's academy and featured briefly for the senior side during the 2016-17 campaign, later built his career with Lille and Fiorentina before returning to haunt his former club.

Statistically, PSG dominated with 70 percent possession and 25 attempts on goal compared to Paris FC's four. However, visiting goalkeeper Obed Nkambadio delivered a standout performance, repeatedly denying the champions and preserving the historic result.

After the match, Ikone expressed his delight at the upset. "We're very happy - we defended strongly," he told France Télévisions. "Scoring that goal was pure joy, and I hope it's just the beginning."
