Maharashtra Horror: Father Attempts to Kill Children Before Suicide, Kids Critical

A deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Maharashtra's Solapur district, where a 34-year-old man allegedly attempted to kill his three minor children before taking his own life, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Tirhe village. The man, identified as Bhima Anna Waghmare, was employed as a security guard at a cement company. Authorities believe he was under severe mental stress following ongoing domestic issues.

According to preliminary investigations, Waghmare's wife had left him and was staying with her parents after a dispute. Despite repeated efforts by family members to reconcile the couple, she reportedly refused to return, leaving him emotionally distressed.

Police officials said Waghmare allegedly took his children to a nearby farm in the Valsang area, where he is suspected to have administered poison to them before consuming it himself. He later died, while the children were rushed to a government hospital in Solapur.

Doctors confirmed that all three children remain in critical condition and are undergoing intensive treatment in the ICU. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and any additional factors involved.

This tragic case is part of a troubling pattern of recent domestic conflict-related deaths reported across the country.

In Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, a 32-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and two young children before dying by suicide at his home in Sarwat on March 31. The deceased were identified as Irshad, his wife Noreen, and their children, aged two years and two months. Police officials stated that initial findings point to a domestic disagreement, reportedly triggered by a dispute over an Eid gift intended for a family member.

In another incident from Bengaluru, a 35-year-old software engineer died by suicide following repeated domestic disputes. The woman, identified as Sushma, had been living with her husband and in-laws in the Abbigere area. Police said frequent arguments at home, including a recent altercation with her mother-in-law over household matters, may have contributed to her decision. Her family has also alleged ongoing harassment.

Authorities in all three cases have registered investigations and are examining the circumstances that led to these tragic outcomes.

These back-to-back incidents have once again highlighted the severe impact of unresolved domestic conflicts and mental distress, underlining the urgent need for awareness, timely intervention, and accessible mental health support systems.
