Congress Leader Sonia Gandhi Admitted To Sir Ganga Ram Hospital In Delhi

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is under medical care at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi after fresh breathing problems. Hospital authorities state that Sonia Gandhi is stable, receiving treatment for respiratory issues, and remains under specialist observation while doctors monitor how Sonia Gandhi responds to medicines.

Sonia Gandhi was taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital around 10 pm on Monday, according to officials quoted by PTI. Doctors say Sonia Gandhi is being monitored by a chest physician after reports of respiratory discomfort linked to Sonia Gandhi’s existing condition, bronchial asthma.

Sonia Gandhi health: current hospital stay and treatment details

According to Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, the Congress leader was experiencing respiratory discomfort, and upon medical examination, it was found that her bronchial asthma had been mildly exacerbated due to the combined effects of cold weather and pollution. "As a precautionary measure, she was admitted for further observation and treatment. At present, her condition is absolutely stable. She is responding well to treatment and is being managed with antibiotics and other supportive medications. The decision regarding her discharge will be taken by the treating physicians based on her clinical progress and is likely in a day or two, said Dr Swaroop.

Sonia Gandhi health: recent stomach-related treatment and checks

A few months earlier, Sonia Gandhi spent a day at the same Delhi hospital due to a stomach complaint. That February visit involved assessment by a gastroenterology specialist, who supervised tests and treatment before Sonia Gandhi was released, following what doctors described as a short observation period for the digestive issue.

Before the February episode, Sonia Gandhi stayed at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital from June 15 to June 19. During that admission, the 79-year-old leader was treated for an abdominal infection and related discomfort. Hospital staff kept Sonia Gandhi under continuous supervision across four days until doctors approved discharge.

Sonia Gandhi health: earlier check-ups in Shimla and United States

On June 7, Sonia Gandhi also attended Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla for a scheduled review. Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, said the visit was for routine health checks after Sonia Gandhi reported some minor health concerns.

In September 2022, Sonia Gandhi travelled to the United States for a delayed medical evaluation. That overseas consultation had been put off during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sonia Gandhi was joined on that trip by son Rahul Gandhi, who accompanied Sonia Gandhi for the extended medical check-up.

These repeated medical visits show doctors have closely tracked Sonia Gandhi’s health, addressing respiratory and abdominal issues through timely intervention. At present, hospital statements indicate Sonia Gandhi is stable at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, with treating physicians expected to decide on discharge within the next couple of days.
