Akbaruddin Owaisi
Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi always hogged the headlines for his hate speeches but this time, he is in news for some other reason. Owaisi, an MLA from Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency of Telangana, has been denied entry to Thane by Maharashtra Police and a legal notice has been served to the leader. Police cited his past communal speeches as the reason behind the denial.

The police said, he was scheduled to address public meeting but Owaisi rejects this theory.

Owasis’s past full of inflammatory speeches

Akbaruddin Owaisi while talking to mediapersons said, "The notice says that I am attending a public gathering and also delivering a speech. But my real programme in Mumbai is not for addressing any public meeting or giving a public speech, but only for attending an 'Iftaar' party and to meet local people and return".

He assertively says that as a citizen of the country he has this right to visit any part of the country and will challenge this move of Maharashtra Police.

"They (police) have mentioned in the notice (denying me the entry) that my provocative speeches in the past had created law and order problems between the two communities", Owaisi said. Police apprehension is quite justified seeing his past records. Time and again, he stokes up communal sentiments through his speeches and there are long lists of that.

His past communal speeches

Recently only, a video featuring him went viral where he was ranting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was seen instilling fear among Muslim community by citing some excerpts of his past interview where he had said, "You feel guilty and remorse even when a dog is killed by your car in an accident". Here is the video link- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cFC0BG2e4w

This is not the single incident but he had courted controversy earlier also by disparaging Hindus and most obnoxious was his statement where he said if there will be no police protection then 100 crore Hindus will be finished up in no time. In 2007, he had threatened to behead noted Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen. Speaking at a public rally in 2012, he made objectionable remarks against Hindu goddess Bhagyalakshmi saying "who is Bhagyalakshmi, never heard of her. Shout slogans such that the Bhagya also shakes and Lakshmi also falls down". Similarly, he made inflammatory statements about Hindu god Ram and his mother Kaushalaya in past. He didn't even leave Andhra Police whom he termed an "army of impotent people". Although he is facing criminal cases in different courts because of his spewing venom attitude but it seems law hasn't proved deterrent for him and still he keeps on making acerbic attacks against particular community.

History of MIM

Over the years MIM has thrived with this communal politics even before India attained freedom from the Britishers. They were not in favour of integration with India at the time of freedom, instead they wanted Muslim dominion and for that they even reportedly established "Razakars", a Muslim paramilitary organisation. The aim of the association was to oppose merger of ‘Hyderabad' with India. The MIM was even banned in 1948 which continued till 1957. The then ‘Razakar' leader and MIM president Qasim Rizvi had to face jail term also till 1957 and he was let off with the condition that he will move to Pakistan.

In 1976, Akbaruddin Owaisi's grandfather Abdul Wahed Owaisi took over the rein in his hand and became president of MIM. Since then, Owasis dominated Hyderabad region. Akbaruddin Owaisi along his elder brother Asaduddin Owaisi always makes communal remark and score political points. They appease Muslims through their actions either by raking up communal sentiments or by providing welfare service through their hospitals.

Lok Sabha result- A big message

Now coming to present situation where Muslim leader Akbaruddin Owaisi is bemoaning that police is targettting him. He said, "Such things cannot stop me from reaching out to my people and my brothers. I am going to reach out and meet them and I am going to fight for them".

This above statement itself speaks about his intention. He always lookouts for the opportunity to appease Muslims through his caustic speeches. Although Maharashtra Police has gone overboard on the matter and this is the fact that every citizen has right to go any part of the country and being a representatives of people he has the same. They could robust their security arrangements rather than sending out this notice to leader. But then Owaisi's past records itself is responsible for all this.

He should understand nobody is allowed to mar the unity of the country. The Lok Sabha result has given a big lesson to all these leaders who are so called champion of Muslim politics. People have sent out message loud and clear that they want inclusive politics not appeasement politics.
