2G: BJP attacks PM-Sonia 'romance' over DMK's wounds
The opposition party blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi as the main culprits of the second generation telecom scam. Sympathising towards DMK, BJP spokesperson Jagat Prakash Nadda said, "Congress is trying to put all the blame for the 2G scam on DMK."
"Congress and DMK are together on the issue of corruption and acted in a pre-planned, well-thought out manner on the 2G scam. Now, in public Congress is romancing with DMK but in private it is conspiring against its ally," chided Nadda.
The BJP spokesperson also hinted that DMK's A Raja and Kanimozhi became the "scapegoats" of the 2G spectrum scam which has been "masterminded" by some other powerful leaders.
Reminding the correspondence between the Prime Minister and and the then telecom minister A Raja, the BJP spokesperson claimed, "It shows that there was an unstated consent of the prime minister on the 2G spectrum licences."
"We have come to know - and the media should also investigate further - that Chidambaram had also insisted then that the government should go ahead with the first-come-first-serve proposal," stated Nadda while hurling his attack on Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Nadda also added, "Kapil Sibal set aside all parliamentary procedures and practices by challenging the CAG report. The scams indicate that Congress is fully involved and is the progenitor of all corruption."
