Polling begins in 5 Assembly segments in Kupwara
Kupwara, Nov 30: Polling began on Sunday, Nov 30 for the third of seven-phase elections in five Assembly constituencies of the state, spread across this border district, amid unprecedented security arrangements and boycott call given by the Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the anti-poll campaign in the valley.
Polling began in a very dull note with some polling stations in the Kupwara constituency yet to receive the first voter during the first 30 minutes. However, voters, including women, could be seen marching towards polling stations in other constituencies, bordering Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). In some polling booths, set up in Keran and Karnah, voters were waiting outside before the start of the polling at 8 am. The authorities said the polling will pick up as the day progressed.
