Israeli media are reporting that Major General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Army (Artesh), was killed in a joint U.S.-backed Israeli airstrike on Tehran, though Iranian authorities have not confirmed or denied the claim. The strikes reportedly targeted military command centers and strategic infrastructure in central Tehran, including areas near the presidential palace complex, where Hatami was allegedly present. Explosions were reported across high-security zones as social media posts circulated unverified claims that he was inside a command facility hit in the assault. Hatami, a former Defense Minister (2017–2021), had been appointed army chief by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei following earlier Israeli strikes in 2025 that killed senior IRGC figures. Just days before the latest attack, he wa ed that Iran was ready to respond to U.S. and Israeli aggression.
