A drone strike has targeted a major US diplomatic facility in Baghdad, highlighting rising tensions across the Middle East. The attack struck the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center located near Baghdad Inte ational Airport. According to security officials, six drones were launched toward the compound, with air defense systems intercepting five of them. However, one drone breached defenses and struck near a guard tower inside the facility. US personnel inside the compound were ordered to “duck and cover” as defenses responded to the incoming threat. No casualties have been reported and all staff members have been accounted for. The strike is suspected to be carried out by Iran-aligned militias operating in Iraq amid escalating regional conflict. The incident comes as drone and rocket attacks on US and allied facilities increase across Iraq and the wider Middle East.
