The Uchinathar Temple, also known as Thirunelvayil, is a Hindu temple located in Sivapuri, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is Shiva, called Uchinathar, and his consort is Uchinayagi. The temple is revered in the 7th-century Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Tevaram, written by Tamil saint poets known as the Nayanmars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. The temple complex covers an area of one acre and all its shrines are enclosed with concentric rectangular walls. The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Uchinathar and his consort Uchinayagi being the most prominent.
Chidambaram is well-connected by road to major towns in Tamil Nadu. State Transport Buses and private taxis operate regularly from cities like Chennai (approximately 215 km), Puducherry (60 km), and Trichy (170 km).
