Thirukutralam is one of the five Pancha Sabhas of Nataraja, known as Chitra Sabhai. The five dance halls of Shiva are located in Chidambaram, Madurai, Thiruvalangadu, Tirunelveli, and Kutralam. Kutralam is also called Trikootaachalam.

The best time to visit Thirukutralam is between June and September during the monsoon season when the waterfalls are at their peak. However, avoid heavy rainfall days as it may disrupt travel plans. Winters (November to February) are also ideal due to pleasant weather conditions.
