The Kudumbi community, originally from Goa, migrated south and settled in Kodungalloor before extending their presence to Tripunithura. The Maharaja of Cochin allocated land for the construction of a temple aligned with their cultural practices. Around 1900, the temple was relocated to Thekkumbhagam, and a new structure was erected. The Maharaja suggested the name 'Sreenivasa Kovil' for the new temple. The deity consecrated here is Lord Narasimha Moorthy in a peaceful form, accompanied by Goddess Lakshmi, and is worshipped as Sreenivasan.
