Sree Ramaswami Temple History and Significance

The Sree Ramaswami Temple is believed to be over a thousand years old. According to legend, a Brahmin pilgrim carrying a Salagrama Murti of Lord Rama sought shelter at the Vadakkedathu Mana, a prominent Namboothiri family in the area. Entrusting the idol to the household's women while he performed his evening rituals, one young woman became deeply devoted to the deity and offered Palpayasam. Pleased with the devotion, the deity expressed a desire to remain there. Consequently, a temple was constructed at the site and dedicated to Lord Sree Rama. Over time, separate temples for Bharatha, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna were established nearby, collectively known as the Nalambalam. The temple was historically managed by the Vadakkedathu and Thekkedathu Mana families until it was taken over by the Malabar Devaswom Board.
