In 1984, two devotees donated eight acres of land in Thamaraipakkam to Swami Chinmayananda for spiritual purposes. Swami Chinmayananda designed the temple with a 65-foot high Shivalinga-shaped dome, a circular Satsang hall on the ground floor, and a meditation hall on the top floor. The foundation was laid on September 29, 1987, and the temple was consecrated on October 15, 1989. A notable feature is the rare Spatika Lingam, a crystal Shiva Lingam with a diamond-studded crest, brought by Swami Chinmayananda.
