  • Legends Beliefs
During the Qutb Shahi Dynasty, the area where the temple now stands was known as Shaukar Karvaan (present-day Karwan), home mainly to the Vaishya and Munnuru Kapu communities, who followed the Srivaishnava sampradaya. When Kalyana Vanamamalai Ramanuja Jeeyar, the head of the Vaishnavite Nanganur Prathama Peetham, stayed here and conducted worship of Vishnu, the place was renamed Jeeyarguda in his honor. Over time, as local Muslims found it difficult to pronounce "Jeeyarguda," the name evolved into Jiyaguda. However, in Sanskrit, the area is still referred to by its original name.
  • Deities and Sub Deities
Built in Dravidian style on 2.5 acres along the Musi River, the temple features a three-tier rajagopuram. The main shrine houses a stone image of Ranganatha reclining on a serpent bed, with separate shrines for Lakshmi (Ranganayaki), Andal, Hanuman, and Garuda. A panchaloha dwajasthambam stands behind Garuda’s shrine, and Vishnu’s Dashavatara are depicted on the sanctum.

  • Architecture
The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, over 400 years old, is the first temple in Hyderabad established by the Nanganur Prathama Peetham. Due to a lack of priests familiar with the Srivaishnava tradition, priests from the Vanamamalai Peetham of Srirangam were brought in. With devotees' support, the temple was later renovated. In February 2015, it was exempted by the Telangana Endowments Department for three years under sections 15 and 29 of the Religious and Charitable Endowments Act.
  • Festivals
