Osian is an ancient town in Rajasthan, India. It was a major religious and trading center during the Gupta period. The town was known for its Brahmanism and later became a hub for Jainism under Utpaladeva. It thrived until the attack by Muhammad of Ghor in 1195, which led to its decline.
