The Narayana Gosain Temple has a rich history tied to a legend from the 16th century. A Muslim invader named Kalapahad destroyed many temples and idols. To protect the central image of Vishnu, the King of Madhupurgarh hid it in a pond. This act saved the idol from destruction.
Years later, Vishnu appeared to the King in a vision. He instructed the King to retrieve the image from the pond and worship it. This event coincided with the Mahavisuva Sankranti or Pana Sankranti festival. Since then, the image is taken out of the pond every year during this festival for worship.
