Constructed in the 12th century, the Maruthamalai Temple is considered the seventh abode of Lord Murugan. The temple's name derives from the 'Marudha' trees (Terminalia arjuna) that once densely populated the hill. The site is also associated with Pambatti Siddhar, one of the 18 Tamil Siddhars, who is believed to have meditated in a cave here and received divine blessings from Lord Murugan. The Golden charriot will be illuminated and Lord Subramanya will around come the temple everyday at 6 P.M and those who have registered for the same will come along with the chariot.

In this holy temple on 23.04.2022 a scheme of distributing Prasadham for the devotees was introduced. This will be given for the whole day whoever visit the temple. The details are 1. 6 am to 7 am - Panchamirtam 2. 7 am to 10 am - Kalkandu saatham 3. 10 am to 3 pm - Samba saatham 4. 3 pm to 7 pm - Puli saatham 5. 7 pm to till closing the temple - Thinaimaavu urundai
Prayer:
The Maruthamalai can be called as hill of herbal medicines which is known for many rare herbs with medical values are there. These divine quality herbs with medical values is boon to the mankind and are good enough to cure the diseases of mind and body. The hill temple can be reached either by claiming the stone steps or can be reached by road in vehicles. While climbing the hill temples of Lord Muruga in the stone steps, there is Lord Vinayaka blessing the devotees, He is called Thaanthonri Vinayaka which means as self evolved moorthi. After the ofering prayers submitted to Lord Vinayaka, if the devotees claim up the steps they can see the Idumban temple. Over there and right above it is beautifully carved mandapam, in which there are beautiful images of horse shoes. The devotees believe that the impression of those horse shoes are of the harse on which Lord Subramanya himself. Lame riding right at the end of the steps, just opposite, the steps lead us to the temple is Aadhimoolavar temple. In this shrine Lord Shri Subramanya is with his consor is Valli, Deivanai and they exist there in the &ampldquoLinga Form” to bless the devotees. It is the age old self made divine Linga Form of Lord Subramanya. This is the divine speciality of this Maruthamalai temple. On trekking above after dharshan, we can see Pancha Vruksham korakattai, Ichi, Aalamaram, Vakkornai maram and Orrumaram all trees in one place looking like a single tree is a virtual delight to see for the devotees. Under the tree is seated Lord Panchamuga Vinayagar Lord Ganapathi with five faces blessing the devotees who come to the temple. This is so special and unseen in any other temple. Pambatti Siddhar is one among the 18 siddhars who worshipped Lord Muruga and it is believed that swamy appeared before him in the form of snake. To strengthen this incident the rock in the temple naturally formed looks like a snake which is so special and divine apart from this main deity Subramanya Swamy Southern side Lord Patteeshwarar temple, norther side goddess Maragathambigai sannathi are located. The main deity here is appearing here in the form of somasundar thirukolam. (that is inbetween Lord Shiva and Parvathi Devi)

Arulmigu Maragathambigai Sannathi:
In the right hand side of main adobe, in the eastern side is the Maragathambigai temple. During Soorasamhara utsava, the Lord Subramanya receive divine vel (the war armor) from Divine mother arulmigu Maragathambigai and it is call sakthivel armor receiving ceremony.
Arulmigu Idumban Sannathi:
When stepping out above Lord Thaanthondri Vinayagar, there is a diety called Lord Idumban and we can reach his temple. The Lord is made of single big rounded rock made in the form of kavadi seva. The devotees believe that if prayed to the Lord Idumba, infertility issues will be sorted out.
Arulmigu Thonthondri Vinayagar Sannathi:
At the start of the hill where steps starting is where Thanthondri Vinayagar temple situated. It is very rare and natural to see. The speciality of this Lord can be found in the totally divine lyrics. “Mekka tamil pulava palar manasamelum thekka pootriesyakka pugal maruthamalai Thaanthondri Ganapathiyar” The lyrics was written by Vanna sarabam Dhandapani Swamigal in the name of Thaanthondri pathigam. After worshipping this Lord Thaanthondri Vinayagar there starts a 1st step which is considered as holy as the steps of Lord Ayyappa temple of sabarimala kerala.
Moolasthanam (Arulmigu Subramaniyasamy):
Main adobe (Lord Subramanya Swamy) had kandigai on head, kudumi on the back of the head with small wait band, wisdom stick on the right hand and left hand on his thigh facing towards east direction to remove karma and fear of death and bless the devotees as Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy.
Athimoolasthanam:
Upon the hillock this shrine of lord is situated, the statue is in its asterical as well as physical forms and manifested in the form of Linga. The Lord Subramanya goddess Valli and goddess Deivayanai are also in the Linga form. The first pooja is always performed to the Aadhi Moolasthanam.

The right side, on the pathway of the divine saint pambatti sidhar, the Goddes Arulmigu sabtha kannimar temple is located, which is the tula dovasne of many people in and around Coimbatore.
Arulmigu Patteswarar Channathi:
Left side to the main adobe and well inside the temple, facing to the east is the Lord Pattiswara seated there showering the blessings on the devotees unconditionally ever and ever.
Arulmigu Panchamuga Vinayagar Sannathi:
On the way of Maruthamalai Muruga hill temple this is the place where five different trees addendumed as one. The five trees are the korakattai tree, the echi tree, the peepal tree, the baniyan tree, the vakkannai ottu tree. Under this divinely addendumed trees, a five faced vinayaka majestically exist and bless the devotees.
Arulmigu Pampatti Chittar Sannathi:
Arulmigu Pambatti Siddhar temple, the divine shrine is in the southern side. And it can be reached through the stone steps sliding down. The rock is in the form of snake. There is a tunnel path way from the pambatti siddhar temple and moolasthanam the main adobe of Lord Subramanya. In that way only the siddhar is the form of snake used to visit the main adobe to pay dignity to Lord Subramanya, Lordess Valli and Lordess Deivayanai, With the divine powers from Lord muruga pambatti siddhar cured diseases of devotees and lived there for long time. Even now there is a belief exist that everyday a snake visits the cave temple, drinks milk and eat fruits kept by the devotees.

Annadhanam Scheme is one of the Welfare Schemes announced by Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and it was commenced on 23.02.2002 in this Temple. Annadhanam is offered for about 100 Persons after Utchikala Poojaj in Temple. Deposits can be made, for one day alms giving seva which is performed in the name of that devotee. By giving such donation, the devotee is provided with IT (Income Tax) exemption through 80G clause (127(1)//2010-11dated 25.08.2011)
Donation:
Cash (in Indian and foreign currencies), money orders, postal orders, net banking services, checks or demand drafts, debit / credit cards, all kinds of donations and donated items are accepted by devotees to fulfill their prayers.
