Historical records indicate that the temple has been maintained by the Ayira Vaisya (Beri Chettiars) community of Walajapet for the past 300 years. Notably, in 1936, Mr. M. Manickam Chettiar served as the managing trustee. The temple has undergone several Maha Kumbhabhishekams (consecration ceremonies), with the most recent one held on August 30, 2018. The temple is also recognized as a Sani Dosha Nivarthi Sthalam, where devotees seek relief from the malefic effects of Saturn, as the shrines of Kala Bhairavar and Sani (Saturn) are positioned opposite each other.
